State teams came together in Atlanta, Georgia on February 11-12, 2014 to develop or refine plans that will facilitate the successful transition away from the 2% assessment—the alternate assessment based on modified achievement standards (AA-MAS). The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) and Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) collaborated with NCEO and the Regional Resource Center Program (RRCP) to arrange this meeting.
The NCEO website now has a webpage chock-full of resources for states transitioning away from the 2% assessment. This webpage contains presentations and other resources from the meeting. Also included are videos of the presentations.
NCEO and the RRCP continue to support states as they implement their state plans. For example, RRCP state liaisons followed up with the states after the meeting, and have continued to provide customized technical assistance to states.
NCEO, with assistance from the RRCP, will hold a follow-up webinar with state teams on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. Eastern Time. This webinar will allow states to share what they are doing as they transition away from the 2% assessment. It also will provide information and resources that will help states as they address lingering challenges they may have encountered during the transition.
