We are pleased to announce the launch of NCEO’s new website, which is still at https://nceo.info/. The website has an entirely new look, and was designed to be more user friendly. As part of the redesign process, NCEO worked with the University of Minnesota’s Usability Lab and conducted usability testing with typical users of the website. By analyzing how people used the website, we pinpointed areas for improvement. The biggest change is the new Resources page where users can better search the website for what they are looking for. This page is organized by topics, content type, and other categories.
The site also now has direct links on the home page to key resources to make them easier to find. There are links to:
- searchable databases of test accommodation research literature abstracts;
- an accommodations toolkit with short abstracts on the evidence base for specific accommodations, along with state policy summaries for the same accommodations;
- a 1% toolkit that contains resources which address issues related to participation in the alternate assessment; and,
- interactive assessment data visualization tools that let the viewer explore data on topics such as assessment participation rates, accommodations, and performance for students with disabilities.
Still on the homepage, users can find the latest publications and NCEO news, as well as a link to state policies pages where NCEO maintains links to state policies on participation, accessibility and accommodations, alternate assessments and other topics for students with disabilities, English learners, and English learners with disabilities.
Finally, the content of the website has been reorganized so that it is easier to find information on key topics such as Assessments and Standards and Accountability. Many of these pages have FAQs that answer common questions about these topic areas.
