The National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO) recently updated its <a href=\"https:\/\/nceo.info\/Resources\/series\/participation-communication-toolkit\">Participation Communications Toolkit.<\/a> It is intended to provide a neutral but useful mechanism to guide positive, thoughtful conversations about student testing participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The toolkit includes a concise <a href=\"https:\/\/nceo.umn.edu\/docs\/OnlinePubs\/ParticipationCommunicationToolkit\/FamilyFlyerOnePage.pdf\">1-page flyer for families<\/a> on why it is so important that all students, including students with disabilities, participate in state testing, as well as an <a href=\"https:\/\/nceo.umn.edu\/docs\/OnlinePubs\/ParticipationCommunicationToolkit\/IEPteamFlyerOnePage.pdf\">IEP Team Discussion Guide<\/a> about the various test options. Additionally, the toolkit contains a <a href=\"https:\/\/nceo.umn.edu\/docs\/OnlinePubs\/ParticipationCommunicationToolkit\/StudentsFlyerOnePage.pdf\">flyer written just for students<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For states, districts, schools, and parent centers that want to put their branding on handouts, the toolkit also contains <a href=\"https:\/\/nceo.umn.edu\/docs\/OnlinePubs\/ParticipationCommunicationToolkit\/FamilyFlyer.docx\">customizable flyers for families<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nceo.umn.edu\/docs\/OnlinePubs\/ParticipationCommunicationToolkit\/StudentFlyer.docx\">students<\/a>, as well as a <a href=\"https:\/\/nceo.umn.edu\/docs\/OnlinePubs\/ParticipationCommunicationToolkit\/IEPteamDiscussionGuide.docx\">customizable IEP discussion guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nceo.umn.edu\/docs\/OnlinePubs\/ParticipationCommunicationToolkit\/NCEOCommunicatingParticipation.docx\">Participation Communication Toolkit<\/a> also contains sample social media posts about state tests that are tailored to succinctly engage parents and families.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State test participation has benefits for students, their families, and their schools.
